The pilot was heading back to the airport from Madeira Beach after flying a banner for three hours when his engine failed and he declared an emergency. The pilot then took caution and landed the plane near the Tyrone Square Mall. The plane was flying a banner for Advertising Air Force out of Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg and is registered to Aerial Banners out of Pembroke Pines. Granata says the plane did hit a car on its way down, which caused minor damage. The plane also has damage on its left wing from clipping a tree to avoid hitting another car while landing, but otherwise is completely intact. The 25-year-old pilot was able to walk away from the accident with no injuries.

Of of my fav bands to check out when I am back home. Tampa Bay based Buffalo Strange has been touring the State of Florida for six years driving fans of all ages to a dancing frenzy. “The Strange” have a unique blend of styles that set them apart from other jam bands. They fuse rock, jazz, psychedelic, reggae and world rhythms into a unique blend that is appealing to just about any audience. Their repertoire consists of a mix of covers, from Bob Marley, Van Morrison and The Grateful Dead to Ben Harper and Jack Johnson, and originals that are a mix of funk, reggae, meringue, folk, and world rhythm jams. Buffalo Strange has consistently drawn large crowds playing primarily in the bay area, and played to admiring fans at festivals (Harvest Fest, Magnolia Fest, UPHONIA) and mini tours throughout the state while making new friends and building a fan base wherever they go.
