I have been strangely fascinated by the rest of the world since a very early age. Nearly visiting every US state before graduating from high school, it wasn’t until joining the Army that I really ventured off of the North American continent for the first time. That was all it took to inspire the insatiable wanderlust that now drives me to new destinations across the globe.

July update

Not much going on lately. I’m sitting outside Baltimore Maryland, of all places, doing some training with a new company to head back over to for another tour. I’m really getting burned out being over there, but it’s easy money and it’s all I’ve been doing since leaving the military a while back.

No more LOGCAP (you contractors know what Im talking about) bullshit and babysitting with my previous companies I’ve been with. I really got in with a solid company that has no company footprint outside the US. And that’s nice. I get sick and tired or these huge contracting agencies overseas with hundreds and even thousands of worthless people working over there. Companies like KBR, FLUOR, ITT, and DynCorp have some really worthless people there with no skills. I get tons of emails daily with people asking for jobs, and it’s sad they are not picked up to work for over there. Instead there are these inbred tools with their first job because the lied on their resume and job interview.  I have a lot of friends there in and Afghanistan working for some piece of shit manager / supervisor with absolutely no skills in life. I guess that’s life everywhere.

So Im heading back to Afghanistan for another tour…. Then who knows what’s after that.

It has been awhile since I have posted. I have enjoyed your blogs over the years. It’s been about 5 years since I finished with Logcap – but I guess I couldn’t stay away. I’m headed out again this month with 1 of the big 4 you mentioned in Afghanistan. It is what it is..
Take care.. keep posting.

Good luck mate, once this deals over with in the sandbox, it is time to go home and watch the kids grow up, and concentrate on my diving in the Philippines. Sick of the dust as well Lol.
Be safe mate.

I know alot of guys in your field get into the LOGCAP program. You can find alot of current information here: http://www.indeed.com/forum/cmp/Fluor-Corp./LOGCAP-IV-INFO/t223212
Most of the guys in that forum know what’s going on and how the hiring is going. I would stay away from KBR and DynCorp.
Unfortunately, I do not have any contacts in Fluor.
Also, General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) is doing some hiring for welders overseas and in Ft Lewis. http://paradinerecruiting.com/jobs/view/welder/

Good afternoon, I personally am a UA Veterans In Piping member and have been thinking about work overseas. I have served in a combat role overseas performing convoy security as an Army Infantryman. Now that I am a certified pipe-fitter/welder I would like to see what my options would be as far as utilizing my current skill set to provide for my family and serve my country. If you have any ideas or direct contacts as far as where I could work and what they offer their employees please feel free to get back to me. Thank you in advance!
