Wat Pho was built as a restoration of an earlier temple on the same site, Wat Phodharam, with work beginning in 1788. It was restored and extended in the reign of King Rama III (1824-51), and restored again in 1982. Wat Pho is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. Even prior to the temple’s founding, the site was a center of education for traditional Thai medicine, and statues were created showing yoga positions.

So after years of looking around to get ideas of designs, I have the basic designed now on skin. This is part one of three. Next is to add some smoke and water to flare it out more then some accented colors. It’s going to be pretty nice in the end… if it ever ends!!!! LOL

After meeting a few people on Koh Tao Thailand at the dive shops and pubs, I had to check out the Muay Thai training camp there. I can really see myself getting into this training program. It’s an outdoor facility not too far from the diveshops and beach. The training is pretty hard core outdoor training. Such an awesome training environment.

The Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya is also famous for its weekly Beach Foam-X Party that takes place at its own 2,000 sqare meter free-form pool with its man-made sandy beach. The Beach Club also houses a contemporary tropical spa and a gym.

Two large granite boulders make up the White Rock dive site. An expansive coral garden can be found here at around 10 meters that’s teeming with schools of butterflyfish and angelfish. Turtle and sea snake on this dive

Diving in Kao Tao Thailand. The best dive site in all of the Gulf Of Thailand is undoubtedly Chumphon Pinnacle, a lozenge shaped rock that begins at about 16 meters and goes down to 30 metres, with a flat bottom sloping away from its base. Visibility was about 5 meters.

Here’s a few pictures from a rainy day in Patong Thailand. I wanted to do some diving, and some instructor friends were telling me it’s better to get on a livaboard for a few days. It takes a couple hours to get out to some good sites, and with the bad weather and the wind shifts… this part of the vacation is hanging out inside or in a pool.

Patong Beach (Thai หาดป่าตอง) refers to a beach on Phuket’s west coast, and to the town adjoining it. It is the main tourist resort in Phuket. It also contains an important center of Phuket’s nightlife and is the center of inexpensive shopping on the island. The beach became popular with Western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous large hotels and chain hotels are located there.

Just after flying into Phuket, some friends of Rocky had us stay in a quiet place called Surin Beach. With it being low season and NOBODY around, we jumped in a taxi and told him to take us to where all the people are at. We ended up in the heart of Patong Beach. This is what we were looking for. Checked out of the hotel, checked into the middle of the chaos, and off to the races we went. Check out some of the madness in the pictures….

I am hours away from a flight to Thailand to meet up with Rocky and a bunch of the Diablo Squad and HOAF Divers! This is scheduled to be a 2 week Thailand trip to include trips to many of the outlying islands as well as visiting some of the boys in Phuket and Pattaya for a day or 2. We are scheduled to crash some courses at Mermaids and take all the students out to see what they’ve got going on. I am bringing the HD cameras with housing for some diving.
