Cockfighting in Boracay Philippines

This video was shot back in 2008 when I was living on the island and times were very crazy. So I headed out to the cockfighting areana in Boracay with Brian, Gaz, Kaye, and a few others to have a few San Mig lights and watch some action. Cockfighting in Boracay Island only goes to show how prevalent this spectator sport is in the Philippines. Widely popular, cockfighting is another local pastime / activity that can offer you glimpses of the local culture. Cockfighting has been around for a very long time in the Philippines, with historical records stating its existence as far back as 1837. To this day it remains a passionate activity among Filipinos, including those in Boracay. This video was banned on youtube from complaints, so we’ll see how it does here.

Chads Thailand Trip – June 2010

I ran video and shot some pictures throughout my travels in Thailand. Flying into Bangkok from Philippines, I met up with Rocky and took the hour taxi ride to Pattaya to grab some gear. Back to Bangkok and a flight to Phuket started everything off. With no set plans, everything was setup thru facebook and text messages with very last minute planning. Being in Thailand made it so easy to not even have a schedule.Bad storms prevented us from getting any diving done or any tourist stuff happening.

From Patong Beach in Phuket, we took off to Koh Samui in a 4 hour taxi ride across the country. During the travels, we stopped by 7-11 for some drinks and snacks, I grabbed a hot dog and some Gatorade and something for the taxi man. No big deal right? That hog dog got my ass sick for a solid 24 hours. So I’m in Koh Samui ejecting hot dog from both ends of my body 10 minutes after check in. Shit. 11am we are on another fast boat to Koh Tao.

Dalan doing 15 shots for his 30th birthday

I got a text message from Dalan saying let’s meet up for a sunset drink. Innocent enough. Then he goes on telling me it’s his birthday. Again… innocent enough. So I ask him…”what’s the married couple’s plan for the birthday?” He tells me – 15 shots at Cocomangas. What?! Are you sure? He says – “On Video!” I say… game on…..

For those unfamiliar with Cocomangas 15 shot challenge, it’s a small challenge where you drink 15 mixed shots with no time limit to get a shirt and your name on the wall.

Wat Pho, thailand temple, Buddhist temple, Wat Phodharam, Thai massage

Temple of the Reclining Buddha – Thailand

Wat Pho was built as a restoration of an earlier temple on the same site, Wat Phodharam, with work beginning in 1788. It was restored and extended in the reign of King Rama III (1824-51), and restored again in 1982. Wat Pho is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. Even prior to the temple’s founding, the site was a center of education for traditional Thai medicine, and statues were created showing yoga positions.

Thai Boxing Training Academy Koh Tao Thailand

After meeting a few people on Koh Tao Thailand at the dive shops and pubs, I had to check out the Muay Thai training camp there. I can really see myself getting into this training program. It’s an outdoor facility not too far from the diveshops and beach. The training is pretty hard core outdoor training. Such an awesome training environment.
