I have been strangely fascinated by the rest of the world since a very early age. Nearly visiting every US state before graduating from high school, it wasn’t until joining the Army that I really ventured off of the North American continent for the first time. That was all it took to inspire the insatiable wanderlust that now drives me to new destinations across the globe.

Switched to MAC from PC

Apple - WindowsWell…. as of today… I have switched to the darkside. I have been a Windows user (not really a fan) since 1997. I have built countless pc’s for people over the years, especially when I was in the Army, and rebuilt and tried to fix countless systems as well. I find myself nowadays turning towards photo and video editing more than anything. Apple seems to be far ahead in terms of this.

So I recently went on ebay and locked into a kickass Macbook Pro all loaded up with the stuff I need to work with. I just received it in the mail. I’m stoked!

The 1st time running this new machine…. I was very impressed. This was a used laptop for about 6 months. I can’t explain how fast it is.. but damn… it’s fast. It clocks in at 2.4G (Intel Dual) with 2GB Ram (buying another 2GB for it) with a nice 250MB video card. I found a program so I can run my windows programs under MAC, so that’s all good for me. (Without installing Windows. A plus!) Now there are no limits.

The true test is not here in Iraq watching dvd’s. The true test is with my HD video cam and all the scuba videos that is coming my way, in a not so distant future.

So they can fire me now…… I will be in the water in less than 84 hours.

It’s taking a few days to learn the mac wording, directory structures, and the mac related software on the machine.

Overall, I think I made a good choice so far. I can’t wait to fire up the video editing portion.
