Stephane MifsudA 37-year-old Frenchman has set a world record for the longest time holding his breath underwater–an astounding 11 minutes and 35 seconds. And get this — Stephane Mifsud says it will take him two months to recover from the effort.

Mifsud practiced 30 hours a week for six months by holding his breath for 2-8 minutes at a time.

In these days of performance enhancement–Mifsud was not allowed to use oxygen before his effort.

- All I can say is…… DAMN!! And… WHY??? – overall, I am impressed. – C
